Upload an Image
Add your own images to a graphic — either as your brand logo or inside image-based templates — all handled privately in your browser.
HeyMotion lets you bring your own images into a graphic in two distinct places: as your brand logo, which appears across every template, and inside specific image-based templates that have a dedicated image field. Both work the same way under the hood — and both keep your files private to your browser.
#Overview
There are two ways an image gets into your work:
- Brand logo — uploaded in the Brand panel, it fills the logo spots in templates that display a logo. Set it once and it applies everywhere.
- Per-template image fields — some templates (for example, Photo card or the Device frame mockups) include an image field so you can drop a picture right into that specific graphic.
#How Upload Works
Whichever place you're uploading to, the mechanism is the same: you pick a file from your computer, and HeyMotion reads it in your browser and embeds it directly into the graphic as a data URL. There's no separate upload step to a server and no asset library to manage — the image travels with the graphic itself.
Because images are embedded in your brand or preset data rather than stored in a server-side library, they stay in your browser (and sync with your account when you save a preset or brand). Nothing is uploaded to an image host.
#Step-by-Step Instructions
#Uploading a brand logo
- Open the Brand panel from the edit panel.
- Find the logo option and choose to upload a logo image.
- Pick your file. It's embedded immediately, and every template that shows a logo now uses it.
Full detail lives in Upload Your Logo.
#Uploading into an image template
- Select a template that has an image field, such as Photo card or a Device frame mockup.
- In the edit panel on the right, find the image field.
- Click it and pick a file from your computer. The picture appears in the preview right away.
#Removing an Image
To take an image back out, use the remove control on the image field (or replace it by choosing a different file). For a brand logo, you can clear it in the Brand panel — and switch back to logo text instead if you prefer.
#Options and Settings
| Where | Field type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Brand panel | Logo image | One logo, applied across all templates |
| Image templates | Image field | A picture used inside that specific graphic |
#Best Practices
Use a transparent PNG for logos so they sit cleanly on any brand background. Keep file sizes reasonable — very large images slow the preview and export — and pick images already close to the shape they'll fill so they don't look stretched. See Supported File Formats for the specifics.
#Common Mistakes
A frequent one is expecting an uploaded image to appear in a template that has no image field — most templates are text-and-number based, and only image templates accept a picture. Another is forgetting that images live with your graphic, not in a shared library, so re-using the same photo across templates means adding it to each one.
