Troubleshoot a Blurry Logo
If your uploaded logo looks soft or pixelated, it's almost always a low-resolution source being scaled up — here's how to fix it.
#Symptom
Your uploaded logo looks soft, fuzzy, or pixelated in the preview and in the exported MP4 (H.264 / AVC, VP9 fallback) — especially on graphics where the logo appears large.
#Likely Causes
- The source image is low-resolution. When a small logo is scaled up to fill a logo spot, it softens and pixelates. This is the number-one cause.
- The logo was saved as a small or heavily compressed JPEG/PNG.
- A raster logo (PNG/JPEG) is being enlarged past its native pixel size, which no software can do cleanly.
- The logo has a solid background that makes soft edges more obvious against brand colors.
#Quick Fix
Re-upload a larger version of your logo — ideally a transparent PNG at least around 1000 px on its longest side, or an SVG, which stays sharp at any size. Vector (SVG) is the best choice because it never pixelates.
#Detailed Troubleshooting
- Check the source resolution. Open your logo file and confirm its pixel dimensions. A tiny favicon-sized image will always look soft when enlarged.
- Upload a larger PNG. Provide a high-resolution transparent PNG so it has enough detail when scaled into large logo spots.
- Prefer an SVG when you have one. SVG is resolution-independent and renders crisp at every dimension and canvas size. See Supported File Formats.
- Use a transparent background. A transparent PNG or SVG composites cleanly over any brand color; a baked-in background can make edges look harsher.
- Re-check across dimensions. Because non-16:9 canvases scale the composition, a borderline logo can look fine at one size and soft at another. Test at the dimension you'll export.
Uploaded images embed as data URLs, so a very large file also slows the editor. Aim for a logo that's sharp but reasonably sized — a clean SVG is both crisp and light.
#Collecting Diagnostic Info
If it still looks soft, note:
- The logo's file format and pixel dimensions.
- Whether it's transparent or has a background.
- The template and dimension where it looks blurry.
#When to Contact Support
If a high-resolution PNG or an SVG still renders blurry, email support@heymotion.io with the file details, the template id, and the dimension so we can reproduce it.
