Create and Save a Project
Save a customized template as a preset so you can reload your exact graphic — content, brand, and clip length — any time.
In HeyMotion, a "project" is a saved preset. There's no separate multi-file project system — presets are how you keep your work. A preset captures a template together with your content and your chosen clip length, so you can close the studio and come back later to exactly the graphic you built.
#Overview
When you save a preset, HeyMotion stores three things:
- the template you were using,
- your content (the text, numbers, and images you typed into the edit panel), and
- your clip length (the duration you set for the export).
Because these are tied to your account, your presets sync to the cloud and follow you to any browser where you're signed in.
#Before You Begin
You must be signed in to save a preset. Presets are stored against your account, so there's no local-only save. If you don't have an account yet, see Create Your Account — it takes a minute.
You can browse the library and build a card without an account, but signing in is required to export an MP4 as well as to save presets and sync your brand — so if you're here at all, an account is worth setting up first.
#Step-by-Step Instructions
#1. Sign in
Open the Account section at the top of the edit panel and sign in with your email and password.
#2. Customize a template
Pick a template from the library on the left and edit its fields on the right — headline, numbers, images, whatever the template offers. Set the Clip length (seconds) field to the duration you want, too; it's saved with the preset.
#3. Save it
Click ★ Save as preset. HeyMotion asks you to name it — give it something you'll recognize later, like "Q3 stat card" or "Channel end card."
#4. Find it in your Account panel
Open the Account panel on the right side of the studio and click My presets — your saved presets appear in a gallery with live thumbnails. (Saved creations — snapshots you make with the 🔖 Save button in the controls bar — live in the My creations tab of the same gallery.)
#5. Reload any time
Click a preset's Use button and it loads straight back into the studio — same template, same content, same styling, same clip length — ready to tweak or export again.

#Your Brand Is Saved With It
A creation snapshots the brand it was saved in. Switch the studio to another brand kit and your saved creations keep their original look — in the gallery, when reopened, and in exports. Re-saving a creation keeps its own brand rather than adopting the current kit. (Creations saved before this feature follow the active brand, as they always did.)
#Best Practices
Save a preset once you've dialed in a graphic you know you'll reuse — a recurring stat card, your standard lower-third, a channel end card. Name presets descriptively so a growing list stays easy to scan. And remember your brand settings sync separately, so a preset always reloads with your current brand applied.
#Common Mistakes
The most common one is trying to save without signing in — the save option only works for signed-in accounts. If you don't see My presets in the Account panel, check that you're logged in.
